What to do for Valentine’s (or Galentine’s) Day this year
Every time Valentine’s Day rolls around, my mind immediately replays “The Office” episode where Ryan finally kisses Kelly… on February 13th. This holiday all about love definitely brings up mixed emotions for people, and I totally understand why. Maybe you’ve just started seeing someone and aren’t yet ready to acknowledge the date, maybe Hallmark-style holidays aren’t your thing, maybe you just plan to spend time with friends, or maybe you love to go all out in red and pink. Whatever the case may be, I’ve got some ideas to make your Valentine’s Day, or Galentine’s Day, just right.
1. Pink and red, of course
I don’t know about you, but I’m itching to leave my house. With snow covering large portions of the states and Covid-19 restrictions still in place, I’m thinking that date night out for Valentine's Day simply won’t be a reality for most of us this year. But that doesn’t mean we can’t dress up a little, right? Throw on pink eyeshadow and red gloss from our Polar Bear Bundle and head downstairs for your date in the dining room! Having a Galentine’s dinner with friends? Find an eyeshadow/lipgloss combo for everyone with our Deluxe Bundle, featuring warm pinks, sparkling creams, and shimmering frost.
2. Order treats!
If quarantine has taught me anything, it’s that Grubhub, DoorDash and Postmates are my very good friends. Treat yourself and your significant other to something sweet this Valentine’s Day and don’t feel guilty about it. We’ve had a tough year, so a relaxing night in with cupcakes and Netflix may be just what the doctor ordered. HappyCow is an amazing website that helps you find vegan restaurants nearby, and yes, that includes vegan treats. I for one will be ordering a dozen vegan cupcakes from Batter and Crumbs Bakery (discovered through Happy Cow) that I may or may not share with my boyfriend. TBD.
3. Lounge Wear
Whether you’re looking for cute PJ’s to cuddle up with friends for Galentine’s Day, or sexy lingerie to spark some romance for Valentine’s Day, you can easily find what you’re looking for online. Again, thank you quarantine for helping us look good while staying ultra comfy. Check out this pink cherry PJ set from Aerie or this red velvet bra with matching underwear from Urban Outfitters for your perfect Valentine’s Day vibe.
4. Heels
Ok, so say you are going out on the town for date night this Valentine’s Day. First, I’m jealous. Second, why not go all out? I can’t tell you the last time I wore heels, but if any holiday warrants them, it’s this one. There are tons of vegan shoe companies that make sexy heels so you can look good and feel great knowing your purchase benefited the planet and its animals. Check out these sexy red suede heels from Lulu’s or splurge on these peep toes from Veerah.
